Carlos Zambrano just absolutely collapsed against the Reds. He was pitching a strong game and had even homered to help his cause and wham, fell apart. He got yanked from the game after getting through 4 1/3 innings with 2 K’s and 4 walks. Final ERA after the inning was over…..drum roll please 13.5! Carlos, who guaranteed a World Series ring this year, has not looked like the dominate pitcher from last year. He may want to go ahead and sign that offer from the Cubs now. Although from his point of view who else to the Cubs have? The answer is nobody.
Hopefully Johan Santana who is facing the Devil Rays and Anthony Reyes who is facing Houston can save my pitching for the day.

What can you say but wow. This is the team I expected to see to start the year. A solid pitching performance from Beckett, dare I say a “gem”. The whole lineup had at least one RBI except Papi, and three players with multi hit games. We needed this to start the series off. Check the entire box score. Hopefully this will carry over to the rest of the series and start a good run for us. My only gripe, Tito takes out Manny and J.D. Drew early after getting the lead. Tito, my fantasy squad needed those points!!!

The signs are everywhere. Flowers blooming, trees sprouting leaves, people out and about and oh the sunshine!! In DC the cherry blossoms are almost at peek (visiting on Wednesday), the grass is green and renewal is in the air. But the tell tail sign that spring is finally here is…..are you ready….BASEBALL is back. More importantly the BOSTON RED SOX are back after a short winter hiatus. Yes I am huge fan – like you couldn’t tell. But I am a baseball fan as well. I love watching, talking and reading baseball. I even have a fantasy team – yeah I’m a geek. So as I prepare for the first game of the season against the Kansas City Royals I’m looking over the team one last time and have to say we have a good shot to win the division. We have solid pitching with the addition of Dice K, Papelbon is back in the pen, we upgraded the lineup in a few spots with Julio Lugo and J.D. Drew (sorry to see you go Trot). I know this is a bit optimistic, check with me at the break and see how I am doing. I cant wait to get to RFK for a dog, beer, peanuts and to hear the crack of the bat!!! See got a DC reference in there.
