Vladimir Guerrero is eyeing a Friday return after being hit on the right hand by Josh Beckett in Mondays game at Fenway.  Dont look for Guerrero to resemble Barry Bonds at the plate, saying “I’ve never been comfortable wearing batting gloves and wouldn’t wear any of the protective gear Barry Bonds totes to home plate”.

Chone Figgins is close to coming back from a a fractured finger suffered in spring training.  He took batting practice and played catch for the first time.

Hideki Matsui is scheduled to play Friday night for Class A Tampa, Manager Joe Torre said and could be in the Yankees lineup next week against the Devil Rays.

Alfonso Soriano has been lost for a week due to tweaking a hamstring yesterday.  As of now the Cubs are not expected to place Soriano on the DL.

In referring to the new visitors locker room at Toronto , Terry Francona said “It looks like a trailer,” When asked about the visiting managers office Francona quiped “How can you leave a bathroom out?”.  Nice…
